MIXTURE- KNIGHT TIME PRODUCTIONS WEBISODE #1

If there was ever a time to get more acquainted with a new, up and coming artist, well now is the time folks. He goes by the name of Mixture, and represents Knight Time Productions. Mixture isn't your average artist, for he possess many skills and talents that the average artists (already with a major deal) lacks. Over the past five years, Mike Morgan a.k.a Mixture has worked for Sony Music Entertainment as a College Marketing Representative serving all of North Florida. In this position, "Mix" has been able to build and sustain several good relationships with not only the top-level executives at SME, but industry artists as well. This has allowed Mixture the opportunity to see first hand the business from the both sides, as an employee and as a independent artist. This has allowed Mix great insight in to his own career as he plans for his long future ahead of him.

Mixture is also the Co-founder and Studio Manager of Florida A&M University's brand new $80,000 recording studio, and continues to set high-standards for his peers and colleagues while being actively involved with Tallahassee's own Upward Bound program. For those who are not aware, UB is a program that serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degre. As you can see, Mixture is more than just an artist. He is what artists strive to become after securing a major record deal...Mixture already understands this concept, and with being as HUMBLE as Mixture is, it takes someone else to recognize his efforts in working with the community. With that said, this is Webisode #1, the first of many more to come of Mixture informing YOU, and his fans about what's going on with him as a artist, entrepreneur, and fan of Hip Hop. Mixture feels it's time to let you know "I am the dude next door", and in addition to flooding the streets and web with his music, he plans to do the same with his personality.

Royce Da 5′9″ “Count For Nothing” (Video)

The New Royce Album "Street Hop" In Stores Oct. 20.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Finally. Nas has spoken and Thank God it was on the right channel and the right platform. It's amazing how the media can invite some one on National television, and still attempt to shadow the truth. Nas speaks the truth about his role, and the music he creates. Although his music speaks about violence, drugs, and murder, these are all the things that have plagued this country way before Rap music existed. If the government, politicians, and or MEDIA really wants to stop the violence (but they don't, because what would they talk about then?), then put some real money in to our schools, and urban communities to provide some assistance to those who need it.

If you go to the suburbs and look at the neighborhoods, and schools, they just appear to be cleaner and just more efficient. It is time that the same resources and attention be paid to our inner city youth, schools, and communities or things will never change. How can the media talk about music glorifying violence, when they do the same thing. They report and broadcast crimes all throughout the day because they're reporting it right? Rap music is the Hood's broadcast channel.

Furthermore, I agree that music should evolve in to something more positive and uplifting, but it doesn't begin with the music. It begins with the Government making sure the inner city is no longer ignored. This does not mean put more police on the streets, and think that the violence will cease. It means providing RESOURCES to the schools and families to help kids see a brighter future. They need to feel like they have something to live for.

Bayb Kay wins 1st Place at the TJsDJs Tastemakers Got Talent Show

By B.L Smith

Its official, Tallahassee has its own princess of hip-hop and her name is BayB Kay! The 17 year old female phenom originally from Madison Fla. came out to perform at this week’s TJsDJs Tastemaker Got Talent show and ab-so-lutely shut it down. You could tell the minute she walked on stage that what the crowd was about to witness was going to be something special.

From the minute she came out with what can only be described as a “self-created style,” her energy began to emanate and spread like wildfire.

BayB Kay, who took 1st place at the Tastemakers show on Tuesday, got a chance to perform her soon to be club hit the next night (yes I said it and you heard it here first,) “U Aint Neva Seen” in front of local and national industry personalities.

“Yo this girl is hot” said Jerzee, an M.C who drove down from Valdosta to perform at the talent show and also attended the conference. “I can’t lie, she definitely did her thing,” he said after watching her perform on Wednesday.

“She’s got undeniable talent and swag,” said Mike Shine a panel judge and CEO of Diamond in the Rough Entertainment. I had a chance to sit down and talk with this talented young artist before Wednesday’s summit and you could definitely tell that there was something unique about this performer.

“I’ve been performing since I was 5 and writing and doing shows since 12” BayB Kay said when asked about being the youngest performer at the summit, and still beating out people almost twice her age. “My plan is always to just go out there and do me, you feel me?”

With a demeanor and confidence to match her talent it leaves no question to why Shine of Diamond in the Rough could be seen talking to her managers Big Boi Swag and Dj Magik immediately after the conference.

There is no doubt that the summit, co-sponsored by none other than TJ Chapman was a great networking opportunity for all involved, but no matter who you ask, discovering artists like BayB Kay are what make all the time and energy put into such events worth it.

Good looks to everyone involved on that BayB Kay project.

WHY I BLOG: COFESSIONS OF FSO STUDENT BLOGGERS

Why I Blog: Confessions of FSO Student Bloggers
Students share the reasons they blog and links to their content.

There are many reasons why a person might start a blog. Some want to share personal experiences with friends and family. Others want to connect to the industry dialogue occurring among professionals on the Web. Still others might use it as an outlet to pursue hobbies and extra interests. Whatever your reason, starting a blog should be about healthy expression, and many of your colleagues have chimed in with why they think blogging is an important experience.

“I love to write - it is a total release for me,” said Carly Brennecke, GRDBS student. “I get to pour out my soul and my guts, and hopefully, it will impact others around me. Some lessons you learn aren't meant to be kept to yourself.”

FSO students use their blogs personally and professionally, but most of them prefer to do a mixture of both. IMMS student Brad Lowrey says his blog helps him to build his personal brand, and EBMS colleague Michael Shine agrees:

“Blogging provides me with a platform to inform, promote and educate the world not only about my artists, recent business ventures and/or events, but it also allows me to share with the world some of my thoughts and opinions on what's currently going on either in the media or around the world,” Shine said. “My blog is somewhat abstract, but that is what I like about it. It's not too formal and not too informal. It's perfect, because it represents me, my company, and what grasps my attention in the media and entertainment world.”

What’s more, blogs provide a platform for worldwide dialogues on any subject you can imagine. With comments enabled, it can be a powerful way for a business to engage clients and improve customer relations.

“I like the interactivity of it: writing a post and having friends and peers comment with their thoughts,” said IMBS student Sharon O'Dell-Lindemann. “It's so much more than a Web site, and it can always be fresh. I am encouraging other small business owners and entrepreneurs to engage in blogging for that very reason.”

For professional blogs, you might find that blogging helps you to stay current in your industry. By reading others’ blogs and maintaining your own, you can ensure that you are up to speed with all the latest developments in your field. (For further reading, check out this feature, Try Blogging Between Jobs, to learn how blogs can be more powerful than a business card.)

“Blogging allows me to highlight what I am learning in my field, discuss best and worst practices with peers and pass helpful information on to those outside of my field who can learn from these examples,” said Internet Marketing student Jennifer Dempsey.

Whether you decide to blog for personal, professional or creative reasons, blogging is a viable outlet that keeps you in the conversation that’s constantly occurring on the Web. Check out the FSO Student Blogroll for links to your classmates’ blogs, and click here to read even more of their comments!

“Blogging to me is a release from everyday stress and a good way to express myself,” said GDNBS student Jeanie Watson. “It is also a good way for me to practice writing, which is something that I will doing a lot of in my classes at Full Sail University.”

Wiz Khalifa performs at Big Daddy's (Tallahassee, FL)

What a month, week, and day it was for Diamond in the Rough ENT. leading up to the Wiz Khalifa show at Big Daddy's in Tallahassee, FL. From trying to put together a tour for our artists, to working hard in the studio to get these new tracks down for Donnie D...it was extremely stressful, frustrating but fulfilling at the same time. I must admit, adversity drives me, and that's where my appreciation comes from in this industry. Once Wednesday night arrived, Wiz came to Tally-Ho and SHUT IT DOWN at Big Daddy's. I mean, Khalifa's performance sounded just like it does in my car! To add insult to injury, my artist Donnie D'Niro also shut it down, and opened up GREAT for Wiz. Shout's out to Nuttso too, who also came and blessed the stage. I took over 300 pictures that night with the help of Krissi (good look), and the FLip camera was on point, so stay tuned for the video COMING SOON!

Now 50 Cent really showed out in his new video "Ok You're Right". The graphics and effects are absolutely dope, not to mention the concept. Thanks to the late great Michael Jackson, these are the type of music videos that were made possible by his genius. This video actually gave me the creeps when I first watched it. What??? Steve McNair Shot to Death?

In the words of Marvin Gaye ..."What's going on?". What is our creator trying to tell us? I'm not sure, but it is definitely a time where I find myself counting my blessings (3 times a day), and thanking God for the good and bad. This has been one of the most difficult and devastating months that I have ever experienced. First, Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, then Steve McNair.

Arguably, Steve McNair was the best African-American quarterback ever, and the second highest drafted black quarterback ever. What a tragic month this has been, but this only confirms that yes, celebrities and athletes are indeed human and vulnerable to all dangers if not more.

We often get caught up in the lavish lifestyle and everything material that comes with being famous, but fail to realize the responsibilities and challenges that come with that lifestyle. Unfortunately, celebrities and athletes are targets, so it's imperative that we all remain humble and thankful. These are just my reflections regarding the events that have transpired these last couple of weeks, and It's been time for us to acknowledge the bad, but more importantly accept the good in all our lives.

Jay Z- D.O.A (Official Video)

So this is how Jay Z feels huh? Well, it doesn't surprise me one bit. I'm just curious to see if Jay's words still hold weight? Usually, whatever Hov speaks on prevails, but will the people listen is the question? I can eventually see people killing the autotune for the sake of the album, but I believe the streets will continue to use it on Mixtapes! After all, some artists are willing to do anything to get in the game, and it even appears that the heavyweights in the industry were just getting started. Regardless, Jay Z just dropped another Classic, so go kill ya'self!

Still in shock...

Today i find myself still in shock. Usually when bad news arrives, I can accept it and understand it, but this...I don't know. Well, maybe if CNN wasn't constantly discussing MJ's up and downs with the courts, the fans (THE WORLD) could celebrate his life a little more joyfully. I can't find Moonwalker out there anywhere (Anybody have the dvd?).

Regardless of what the media says, MJ was the greatest and nothing can tarnish his image. Rev. Al Sharpton said it best this morning on the radio "for all the debt that Michael had, what about the debt owed to him from the industry, he saved the music business in the 80's."
