Finally. Nas has spoken and Thank God it was on the right channel and the right platform. It's amazing how the media can invite some one on National television, and still attempt to shadow the truth. Nas speaks the truth about his role, and the music he creates. Although his music speaks about violence, drugs, and murder, these are all the things that have plagued this country way before Rap music existed. If the government, politicians, and or MEDIA really wants to stop the violence (but they don't, because what would they talk about then?), then put some real money in to our schools, and urban communities to provide some assistance to those who need it.

If you go to the suburbs and look at the neighborhoods, and schools, they just appear to be cleaner and just more efficient. It is time that the same resources and attention be paid to our inner city youth, schools, and communities or things will never change. How can the media talk about music glorifying violence, when they do the same thing. They report and broadcast crimes all throughout the day because they're reporting it right? Rap music is the Hood's broadcast channel.

Furthermore, I agree that music should evolve in to something more positive and uplifting, but it doesn't begin with the music. It begins with the Government making sure the inner city is no longer ignored. This does not mean put more police on the streets, and think that the violence will cease. It means providing RESOURCES to the schools and families to help kids see a brighter future. They need to feel like they have something to live for.
